Characteristics:

This is a pretty little burrower that seldom surfaces. May be found beneath natural surface debris or trash. Small (adult at 10 to 11 inches in length), slender, with shiny brown scales on the back and upper sides; bright pink of the belly scales extends upwards to include the lower 3 rows of lateral (side) scales. Tailtip scale sharpened. Pupil round. Anal scale divided.

 

Unique Features:

Tail tipped with a sharpened conical scale. Bright pink belly coloration extends upward 3 scale rows on each side.

 

Habitat and Diet:

Open woodland, sandy fields, and other such habitats. It is often found beneath rocks or debris. Primarily feeds on Worms and other invertebrates
