Characteristics:
This foot-long snake is another smooth-scaled hog-nose look alike. Dorsum is white with wide black bars along the entire length. These extend down the sides where they are flecked with white. Sides are red between the black bars. Belly, white. The head is marked by a single dark bar. Considered nocturnal, this snake, a persistent burrower, is seldom seen. Surface activity is largely restricted to rainy summer nights. Prey: arthropods. Oviparous.
