Northern Green Rat Snake

Characteristics:

Adults attain a length of about 4’. The dorsal green may be olive to gray-green. Adults of this constricting snake have no stripes or spots. Belly is plain pale yellow. A species of rocky hillsides, ledges, and streambeds, although it may wander far afield this snake seems most common in the proximity of a water source. Hatchlings tan to light brown with darker dorsal blotches

 

Unique Features:

Color and size are diagnostic.

 

Habitat and Diet:

Usually found in the vicinity of desert water sources. Occasionally wanders far afield. Primarily feeds on Lizards, rodents and small birds
