Juvenile Racers look different than adult racers

These snakes will change from a light colored snake with reddish blotches as a juvenile, to a uniformly black or gray snake with a Lighter colored chin as an adult. These are a fast moving snake that is active during the daytime where it hunts lizards and rodents. They may act defensively if cornered, but they are not dangerous
