Characteristics:

Very wormlike. A persistent burrower. Brown dorsally, venter lighter than dorsum. Slender and 4 ½ to 6 ½ inches long when adult. Nose, throat, and blunt tailtip may be yellowish. Overall blue when ready to shed skin. Belly scales are not enlarged. Eyes are reduced in size and are visible as a dark spot beneath a translucent scale.

 

Unique Features:

Also known as Flowerpot Snake, it is perfectly capable of living in potted plants. This tiny snake is a parthenogenetic, all female, species. It feeds on termites and other tiny insects.

 

Habitat and Diet:

Irrigated gardens and potted plants. It is incapable of living in dry soil. Ant aggs; termites and other soft bodied insects including their larvae.
