Characteristics:
Very variable, the ground color may be orangish with a bluish blush, blue with orange interstitial skin, or somewhere between these extremes. Length 3-4 ½’. 4 dark stripes, 2 dorsolateral and 2 lateral may vary from prominent to faded. This is a snake of western canyons, rockslides, hill country and other harsh habitats. Oviparous. Hatchlings are grayish with many very narrow dorsal saddles.
